This is a variant of the original Devil Bug pattern made by Gary Borger. This fly is the favorite fly of many fishermen during the caddis season in the norwegian rivers.
This pattern does not have the orginial bodyhackle under the deer hair, but a collar of cdc
Hook : Ahrex FW500 Dry Fly Traditional #10-14
Tying Thread : Semperfli Classic Waxed thread 12/0, Hot Orange
Body : Hares Blend Dubbing, Natural Grey
Wing / Shield : Deer Hair, Natural
Head / Legs : Cdc, Ginger
You can change the color of the (under) body and the cdc to imitate the variants in your river. Using cdc instead of bodyhackle, you can fish this fly with even thinner leader. And the cdc will imitate more life.
Attach the cdc in a dubbing-loop or if you use the Semperfli Classic Waxed thread, it is easy to split the thread for the job
