Mayfly : Baetis Cdc Loop Emerger
161018_1 (1).jpg

This is one way to imitate the small olives when they start hatching in the spring, and for the second time late in the autumn (here in norway). This one will hang deep in the waterfilm, with the back body down in the water. Emergers is often tied on a straight hook, but this curved emergers can suprise you

Hook : Ahrex FW524 Superdry #14-18 (more curved hook) or Mustad C49s #14-18

Tying Thread : Semperfli Classic Waxed thread 18/0, Olive Dun

Tag : Semperfli Fine Wire, Ice Blue

Body : Hares Blend Dubbing, Golden Olive

Ribbing : Semperfli Fine Wire, Ice Blue

Wing : Cdc, Dark Grey

Thorax : Hares Blend Dubbing, Natural

I often tie these flies with the two aforementioned hooks. Mustad C49s or Ahrex FW524 Superdry, the last hook will give even more bend on the fly than the one on the picture.

The fly will float on the cdc loop, so remember to add enough cdc feathers when making it.
